Ok, at long last I am getting around to sharing the three photos I took after the play NOT. Sorry I can't figure out how to insert photos and I don't have photobucket (whatever that is). As we were all standing together my photos are very similar to those taken by Samsonite and Sheila.

I am not going to give another review of the play as I certainly can't recall anywhere near the amount of detail already posted by Sheila and Samsonite.

As this was my first time of seeing Sam I was not sure what to expect but the whole New Haven experience was worth the journey from Scotland! The theate itself is wonderful and intimate and for a play such as this a very fitting setting. I am not sure how the play would sit in a larger theatre if the audience is too far from the stage. For my part, I went expecting the play to be of secondary importance because it was Sam I was there to see. I imagined I would only be able to concentrate on watching Sam but such was the presence of the other actors especially the actor playing Adela, it was impossible not to watch and be drawn into the play. It did help that Sam was on stage for the entire 80 minutes of the one act play. When the play finished on our first night I could hardly believe 80 minutes had passed - I have sat through plays/films where only 20 mins have passed which feel like 90 mins!

As you know, we had the opportunity to meet Sam, albeit briefly, after the performance on Friday night. I was determined to stay calm & focused should we be lucky enough to catch Sam before he left the theatre. Well, I guess I was so calm I can barely remember anything. I know I was there because I have some photos and his signature on a programme but I was not brave enough to say anything other than "thank you" when he signed my programme. At one point I remember taking so much time focusing my camera I had to remind myself to actually press the button and take the photo - definately a little star struck!!

Although I barley remember the 2/3 minutes we had in Sam's presence I would not have missed the trip for anything. I have to thank everyone on this board for giving me the courage to make the journey. I have not posted many items on this board but I do read it nearly every day and have done for several years, and it is only because everyone here is very friendly that I felt I was able to contact Samsonite & Sheila directly and arrange to meet up with them.

I hope this will not have been my one & only chance of seeing Sam on stage. Once the holidays are over I am going to start a "Sam" fund and save a little every month so if the opportunity arises I will at least be able to afford the airfare over to NYC.
